The perfect compliment to a "Sniveller" style quilt. Made of 1.1 ripstop nylon with a Durable Water Resistant (DWR) treatment, 1 inch baffles, and filled with 800 fill power, Activ-Dri treated down. The JRB Down Hood outer shell is black and the lining is also black. Mixed hook & loop around the collar fits perfectly into the "Sniveller" style head opening and converts the quilt into a hooded serape.

When separated from the quilt it provides a warm, close fitting, adjustable closure hood for sleeping. The hood may also be used alone for warmth in camp or during other low activity periods such as rest stops, meal stops, etc. The JRB Hood is also compatible with the Nest Under Quilt. Total weight: 2 oz.

Really useful gear. Hiking and traveling in cool/cold weather, I take a down vest, this down hood, and the down sleeves, and then can use them in any combination as conditions require, and to add warmth while sleeping. Stayed toasty warm down to 16 degrees F. Haven't tried it lower than that, but think it would stay comfortable even much lower. It takes up little space, is light weight, well made, and very versatile. Used it while hiking around Iceland, England, Wales, and Scotland in January and February, and on the AT in March and April.

Just started to use this down hood with the High Sierra Sniveller. I didn't realize how important it was to keep my mouf breathing out of my top quilt due to moisture. Adding this hood allowed to to keep my head comfy cozy on the outside outside of my quilt and my TQ dry. Also planning on using the supplied Velcro on my down vest to serve as my puffy with convertible options.

Used this with my Sierra Sniveller recently on a weekend that bottomed out around 19 degrees. My head was one part of me that was never cold at night. I will say though, as a woman with a smallish head that it did slip around some when I moved and I would have to adjust. Still, worth every negligible ounce.

I just recently got a top / under quilt. I previously was using the grand trunk hammock compatible sleeping bag which has a mummy style hood. With a quilt set up you obviously lose the mummy style hood. JRB once again solved my issue with this down hood product!

I recently hammock camped with it in 30 degree f with cold & gusty windchill. Not only did it keep me warm, it felt great to the skin... on my shaved head & sides of my face. I brought my down coat to JRB & they installed the hood mod & gave me a shop tour!
