The High Sierra Sniveller is a wearable 0°F down quilt built for deep-winter camp. Wrap up in it like a serape while you cook, gather, or take in the cold-night sky — then form the footbox and sleep in it as a top quilt, in a hammock or on the ground. It's the warmest of our wearable Sniveller line, lighter than a similarly rated sleeping bag, with no squirming to get in and out and easy venting for temperature control.

Designed with the ground sleeper in mind, it runs wide — 55 inches at the shoulders and through the hips to eliminate drafts — then tapers to 45 inches at the foot. The lengthened foot box improves tuck control, and six lacing tabs let you secure it around a pad. A non-snagging hook-and-loop head hole lets you wear it as a serape and re-seal it cleanly. For campers over 5'10", a long version (86 inches) is available for use as a top quilt.

Shell & down: Filled with 850 fill power RDS-certified down behind our wind- and water-resistant Ion 1.1 shell. Higher fill power means more warmth for less weight. The High Sierra is over-stuffed 33% by weight to reduce down migration and hold its 0° rating between cleanings — no additional over-stuffing needed. (All Jacks R Better quilts are over-stuffed at least 25%; if you want more warmth, step up to the next-warmer model.)

Box baffle construction: Box baffles are what make a wearable quilt work at 0°F. Rather than stitching the shell straight to the lining, we sew fabric walls between the two layers, forming closed chambers the down fills to its full depth. Sew-through seams do the opposite — they clamp shell and lining together in a line, and a clamped seam holds no down and stops no heat. Standing around camp in single digits you would find every one of those lines, which is why the added cost and slight added weight of box baffles are not optional at this rating.

Footbox: Formed with a drawcord, cord-locks, and double-sided Kam Snaps — leave it flat as a blanket for venting, cinch a foot box, or stack multiple quilts in colder temps.

Compression sack: Sold separately, since many campers now keep quilts dry in a contractor or trash-compactor bag instead. For 0° quilts we recommend the large size.

Hand-sewn in Pennsylvania. Sleep Better. Adventure Better.
