Built to order, starting at $370 and shipping in 2–4 weeks, the Custom Ultralight Backpacking Quilt lets you specify the exact quilt you want — temperature rating, length, shape, footbox, shell colors, and stitching — in premium 1000FP down. The same quilts Jacks R Better has been sewing in Pennsylvania since 2004, made to your spec.

Your Quilt, Your Specs

Most of our quilts come in a fixed set of sizes and temperature ratings. This one doesn't. Use the builder above to choose every detail, and we sew it to order in our Pennsylvania shop. Because it's built for you, price starts at $370 for the base configuration and climbs as you add warmth, length, and premium fabric — you'll see the total update as you go.

What You Choose

  • Temperature rating: 40°, 20°, or 0°F comfort — all Jacks R Better quilts are comfort-rated.
  • Length: Short (69″), Regular (78″), or Long (86″) to match your height.
  • Shape: Multi-Function Rectangle (48″ wide) for back sleepers — and it doubles as a hammock underquilt with the JRB Suspension System (sold separately) — or Wide Half-Taper (55″ tapering to 45″) for side and active sleepers.
  • Footbox: Standard, formed with a drawcord, cord-locks, and double-sided Kam Snaps so it lays flat as a blanket, closes into a foot box, or stacks with other quilts; or Sewn, permanently closed for the lightest, cleanest finish.
  • Outer and inner shell: pick from 19 colors across our standard 10D, ultralight 7D, and 15D Woodland Camo fabrics — mix and match inside and out.
  • Stitching: matching, contrast, all black, or a custom color you describe.

Built the Jacks R Better Way

  • Premium 1000FP down: 1000-fill-power down is exceptionally efficient at trapping heat, giving you the best warmth-to-weight ratio and the smallest pack size — you stay warm even on chilly nights in the backcountry.
  • 25% over-stuff: every 1000FP quilt is over-stuffed by 25% to reduce down shifting and hold its rating even as the down loses a little loft between cleanings or in damp conditions. We don't recommend additional overstuffing.
  • Ultralight fabrics: choose 0.67 oz 10D, ultralight 0.49 oz 7D, or 0.9 oz 15D Woodland Camo shells.
  • Made in the USA: hand-sewn to your order in Pennsylvania and backed by our Total Quality Guarantee.

Packing and Storage

On the trail, we recommend a lawn contractor bag or trash-compactor liner to keep your quilt dry while letting it expand to fill the space in your pack; compression sacks are available separately for the smallest possible pack size. At home, every Jacks R Better quilt ships in a zippered storage bag that keeps the down uncompressed and breathing — the right way to store down long-term.
